The One Legged Mom

Being a Mom doesn't stop just because I lost a leg…

My Behind the Scenes.

I shared a post a couple days ago about “Behind the Scenes” pictures. The ones who don’t make it to Facebook because someone isn’t smiling or the camera snapped mid blink for someone or your kid moved the exact second the picture was taken making it blurry. The ones that will sit in your camera roll for months on end only to be printed by accident because you didn’t delete them because it takes quite a bit of time to scroll through photos one by one to delete them. And ain’t nobody got time for that.

Well today I had an unusual occasion for a Saturday & had all 3 kids in the house & awake at the same time so I thought I would take full advantage of the fluke & snap a quick picture for a future post I’m working on. Well as you can probably guess, one picture turned into 30 & as I was scrolling through that hay stack to find the needle, I came across this blooper. And it literally made me chuckle out loud. This is a perfect visual representation of my kids. Like down to the clothes they are wearing (or not wearing) & here’s why…

💙 Jake. Kid is at the age that he wants to do exactly the opposite of what I ask him to do, which was smile.

💗 Mya. Girl literally has mad skill for always making the weirdest of faces during any picture. I’m not sure if she thinks she smiling or is just that dramatic, but let’s just say my camera roll is filled with Mya faces identical to this one….

💜 Tessie. I had picked out the cutest little Nike outfit for this morning. But girl is kind of a slob. So not only did she dirty it up with breakfast & snacks, she spit up on it as well. So much that it’s currently soaking in stain remover as I type this. So I tossed on her her brothers t-shirt that was sitting in the diaper chest. That paired with her booger + slobber covered messy hair is a normal sight at my house….

This normally would be a photo that would collect dust in my camera roll. I’d be too lazy to delete it but would definitely scroll right past it without giving it a second glance. Because it’s not “perfect” enough for Social Media. It doesn’t depict us as totally put together. Which is an incredibly stupid concept. Because this picture is more us than one that contains 4 smiling faces. And isn’t something that is you-er than you & truer than true “perfect”? I think that qualifies it as being beyond perfect actually. So that’s why I’m posting it. Because it’s perfectly imperfect. Because it’s my goofy bunch. And I love it down to the oversized T & goofy faces. The idea of “Social Media Perfect” needs changed & for me, it starts here. With this picture.

So for your viewing pleasure, I present the extremely far from perfect One Legged Mommy & her silly kiddos. Laugh or Criticize. I don’t really mind. Because this is wall worthy in my books. It’s better than “Social Media Perfect”. It’s REAL! And I don’t even need quotation marks to show you that.
