The One Legged Mom

Being a Mom doesn't stop just because I lost a leg…

I Am A….

I need you to close your eyes and think for a second. If you had to pick what part of nature you are most similar to, what would you pick? Would you pick the sun? Because you light up a room? You bring warmth the closer you get to people. The energy you bring to wherever your presence is is something that people feed off of. Shining is what you do but if people rotate away from you, you will find something else to keep warm. Because it’s their loss. Or would you pick a tree? Because your roots run deep? You are always close to the branches of your family and remember your roots. Protecting people is what you do despite the fact they may have ax hidden in their back pocket and they would cut you down to better themselves. But even mid swing, you will stand tall until you can’t stand anymore in hopes one of your little seedlings has sprouted when you were looking to help give you protection when you need it most. You change often. You grow and little pieces fall away when strong things blow against you. How about a flower? You bring happiness. Your job is literally to cheer people up even during the saddest of times. You’re beautiful and you provide for many others without even knowing it. You can bloom but can close back up too. You have no problem spreading your love & kindness and can be moved wherever to bring beauty and happiness to the next person who needs it. But you know you can’t bloom without the help of others. You need an army to function.

All of these options are good & valid choices. Obviously there has to be exceptions to their beauty and perfections, because we all have exceptions. No one is just everything and a bag of chips. And if someone claims they are, they are the wind. They blow a bunch of hot air and are as transparent as it gets. You give wind power only if you allow it to have it. If you don’t build a strong house or barn. You give it power to damage so much that is important to you. Sure wind has some good attributes too. It pushes you along when you’re struggling up a hill in your life. It helps others change when they need to even though they are clinging on to every last stem or petal to not. Yes. There are amazing things about the wind but they usually apply when you’re moving with it. Go against it, and you will be using every ounce of energy to make it where you need to go. The options are limitless when it comes to what describes you best in terms of nature. So much beauty & strength.

So at this point you’re probably wondering what I would choose. My choice is a complex one. It can be light & dark. It gives things room for growth without taking away from its own space. People reach for it and stars shoot at it. I’m sure you’ve guessed it by now, but I am going to tell you anyways. I choose to be the sky. I change often. Limits are unknown to me. I can be cloudy or rainy, but I can clear right up to let my sun shine. The sky is always there. It ties back in to so many things in nature without forcing its way in. I change with time, but can be at my best and most beautiful at any given hour. And you 100% do not need 2 legs to reach for it. And that’s why I aspire for it to be my element of the wild. I choose to be limitless. I choose to be the sky.

P. S. This wonderful weather we have been having here in Ohio lately is what inspired this post. I don’t always think about odd things. 😉 🌌 💕 ☀️ 🌳 🌹 💨
