“If God put a Goliath in front of you, it must mean He believes there is a David inside of you.”
I literally have never heard this quote before but dang did it get the old noodles wheels a turning. Big fights can be won in what appears to the naked eye to be in the littlest of ways. Things that others may think is not what saved the day, may in fact be what saved the day. But this statement also says that God doesn’t discriminate either. We each will face our Goliath at some point in our lives. It may not show up in the same way, but boy does he come. And lots of times it seems that he comes when we only have a stone and a slingshot available to defend ourselves with. When the odds seem so stacked against us that we are forced to pick up that teeny, tiny slingshot and some stones and fight back with or risk losing it all. But nothing is ever a coincidence. God gave you only the sling shot and some stones for a reason. Are you ready to find out why?
What can we learn from the sling shot? We learn we need to be precise. Figure out the important things in your world and go to them. Do all the little things and say what needs to be said. We learn not to be wasteful. Don’t waste your time and energy on things that cant or aren’t going to reciprocate the same effort. You only have so many stones, don’t waste them shooting at a wall. We learn how to aim. How to aim our prayers where they are needed most and how to focus in on one thing. If we continue to let the things around us distract us from our focal point, our force may not be as mighty. Finally, we learn how little things can have such big impacts. Yes, we need good surgeons and medical teams. But maybe, just maybe, that isn’t enough against a Goliath of a situation. I mean just a sword would have never taken Goliath down by itself. And we have all heard that the “sling shot” is mightier than the sword. In this case, the prayers we have in our own hearts and that God receives regarding us may be just the ticket to success. A couple well aimed, well timed prayers and boom, we have our self a story of success that started out a story of small odds. Miracles happen my friends. And they start with God hearing how much you are loved and needed here on this Earth.
So to wrap this up, I need each and every one of you to find the David inside of you. Prepare him for when you meet your Goliath. Training will be necessary. Train him by sending good vibes and prayers to those around you that need it most whether you know them or not. Train him to never give up despite the odds. Train him to be resourceful, and humble, and to never be distracted. Train him to trust in your own capabilities and to know how powerful one small stone (prayer) is. Train him to fight the good fight. And most of all, train him to be confident. Not just in yourself, but in God’s ability and the path he chose for you. Do that, and you are already ahead of Goliath.
May your sling shot always be mighty my friends….
